Philosophy
MCCB has a somewhat unique vision among wildlife and environmental consulting firms for its role and function in society. We believe a clear understanding of that vision and philosophy can assist the potential client in quickly determining whether we might be the “right” source for your consulting needs. Our philosophy is firmly rooted in three fundamental notions:
IF “quality of life” and an appreciation of conservation and wise-use of natural resources are part of your vision..., IF you are looking for a wildlife consultant to advocate for a project design consistent with the spirit and intent of applicable laws and policies... IF you are looking for a wildlife consultant to help you design a project that marries a responsible conservation strategy with utility, profitability and functionality... MONTALBANO AND COMPANY MIGHT BE THE WILDLIFE CONSULTANT FOR YOU. Expertise The principal assets of the company are the technical and administrative expertise, unique job experience, and reputation for integrity enjoyed by the company’s founder, Frank Montalbano III. This experience and reputation was acquired and nurtured through formal education and 35+ years of professional, technical and governmental service as a U.S. Air Force Commissioned Officer, wildlife biologist, resource manager, administrator of both technical and scientific governmental conservation programs, and wildlife consultant. Mr. Montalbano retired from public service on November 30, 2005, after 31 years with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). His career as a wildlife research and management biologist and administrator included 18 years of service as Director of FWC’s Division of Wildlife. He has authored or co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed technical journal publications and technical book chapters, made countless public presentations on technical, governmental and popular topics, and served as an advocate for conservation programs before regulatory and legislative bodies at state and national levels. He has received numerous international, national, state and local awards in recognition of both his achievements in wildlife and environmental conservation and his record of professional excellence. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University (Wildlife Science, 1970), and is designated as a Certified Wildlife Biologist under the professional certification program administered by The Wildlife Society, “an international non-profit scientific and educational organization serving and representing wildlife professionals in all areas of wildlife conservation and resource management.” Mr. Montalbano’s areas of technical expertise include, but are not limited to: wetlands conservation and management; conservation land management; wildlife management; migratory bird, upland game, non-game and imperiled species conservation; and a broad array of technical conservation issues. In recognition of his technical expertise and interest in serving the people of Florida, Florida Governor Jeb Bush appointed Mr. Montalbano to the state's Florida Panther Technical Advisory Council in September of 2006. A complete resume is available upon request.
